SPECIALIZATIONS AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT

In the Service Technician Education Program (STEP), technicians have the opportunity to delve into five distinct specializations: Diesel Engine, Chassis, Hydraulic, Electrical, and Chassis Mounted Equipment. Each specialization offers a tailored curriculum designed to hone technicians’ skills and expertise in their respective areas. Through a combination of coursework, technicians earn credit points, marking their progress within the program. These courses are available through various avenues, including online learning platforms like Custom Truck University’s Learning Management System (LMS), vendor portals such as Cummins Quickserve, Freightliner DTNA, Muncie, as well as in-person classroom settings. It’s important for technicians to be mindful of any pre-requisites associated with certain courses, and they are encouraged to consult with management or the Training Director to ensure they have fulfilled all requirements before enrolling.

Technicians enrolled in the STEP program have the flexibility to complete courses across different specializations to accumulate credit hours, provided they meet the specific pre-requisites for each course. This approach allows technicians to tailor their learning experience to their interests and career aspirations while gaining a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of truck maintenance and repair. Whether advancing their expertise in diesel engines, mastering electrical systems, or tackling hydraulic components, technicians have access to a diverse range of courses aimed at enhancing their skills and advancing their careers within Custom Truck One Source.
